Chinese and Russian swimmers take the plunge across Sino-Russia border

Saturday saw the 14th swimming event crossing the Sino-Russia border, which took place between northeast China's Heihe city in Heilongjiang Province and Blagoveshchensk, across the river in Russia’s Amur Oblast.

The river lying at the boundary of the two nations is called Heilong River in Chinese, and is also known as the Amur River. The swimming event has united residents on both sides of the river to boost exchange and cooperation.

The event attracted 300 swimmers, the most on record, including 200 Chinese swimmers from 11 provinces aged between 18 and 65.

A 67-year-old swimmer from Russia took his son to participate in the event for the tenth time, needing only 20 minutes to finish the challenge. He said he would take part in the event again next year.
